I Have A 17mm Thickness. Does That Mean That My Cancer Will Eventually Spread? Or Will The Hysterectomy Cure The Cancer?
My thickness was 15mm and I was asymptomatic. It was discovered when I went to a urologist for annoying double-voiding (can't get all the pee out in one push) and she found nothing urological wrong, so sent me to a gyne. After D&C, they found a tumor that was biopsied at Grade 1 only. Then total hysterectomy showed invasion of >50% in myometrium, but nothing outside of uterus (no nodes, cervix, ovaries, nothing). That automatically bumps you up to Stage II, and then the docs won't let you get away with just the surgery. They'll want you to do brachytherapy or beam radiation, and/or chemo.
A 17mm thickness likely indicates your cancer is stage 1 or 2. With treatment, there is a good chance a hysterectomy can cure the cancer if it has not spread beyond the uterus. However, there is still a risk of spread even after hysterectomy. Your doctor will determine the cancer stage and grade during surgery. If no signs Show Full Answer
